PhoneValet Power with an AppleScript Plus | ||
PhoneValet has an incredibly rich feature set — right out of the box. It supports voice mail, call recording, dialing, faxing, logging and many other features, and is easily installed with a click of the mouse. Unlike other telephony products, with PhoneValet you don't have to plunge into the world of AppleScript, if you don't want to.
PhoneValet's advanced dialing services, for example, are accessible to the system through AppleScript. The scripts enjoy access to PhoneValet's dialing rules, which determine how to dial a call in your area and with which service (your calling card, 10-10- access number or PIN code). We provide sample scripts for Entourage and FileMaker, but hundreds more applications support AppleScript access and are in position to dial with PhoneValet. PhoneValet isn't just a system that can receive AppleScript requests. PhoneValet can coordinate your telephone line with your existing applications by monitoring the telephone line and launching your own scripts when appropriate. At Parliant we believe that software should be easy to use, should work right out of the box and should not require a user to study a lengthy manual before getting down to work... so we've designed PhoneValet's AppleScript interface to be unobtrusive to those who don't need or want to use it. However, our AppleScript support is flexible and powerful for those who need a robust, multi-line integration between the Macintosh and the telephone. Remote Control Remote Control is perfect for commanding your X-10 building control systems, rebooting or restarting processes, or kicking off administrative functions — a feature that's as powerful as your imagination. Line In Use Scripts Although you can choose to take action when the line goes into use and again when it goes out of use, you might want to select one of the two. For example, you could bring your contact manager to the front only at the end of your calls, to remind you to update your notes. Line in use scripts have access to the line information, which means you can modify the action performed, when certain lines are being used. Caller ID Scripts As an example, we provide a script that uses the Internet to get additional information about the calling number. With this script installed, when Caller ID information is received, a Web browser retrieves reverse lookup information and presents it on-screen. Because the script is run as Caller ID information is received, the results of this reverse lookup are generally available before the third ring. Caller ID scripts are provided with the name and number from Caller ID as well as the line information. PhoneValet also provides a separated area code and local number where they can be determined. Voice Mail and Call Recording
Scripts You don't have to use these scripts to post-process your messages and recordings. Perhaps you want to perform other actions after a message is left, like update your contact manager, for example. Voice mail scripts are provided with the caller's name
and number, path to an audio file containing the message as well as
information about the line answered. Call recording scripts are provided
with the names and numbers associated with the call, the path to the
audio, whether the call was placed or answered as well as line information. |
