PhoneValet's Phonebook

PhoneValet's phonebook holds names and phone numbers of frequent contacts. These contacts may be dialed with a click of the mouse, or you can call them using voice dialing — a powerful combination of PhoneValet's dialing services and your Mac's speech recognition system. It's easy to search for exactly the entry you want (see below).

Each entry in the phonebook has a telephone number to dial, but it also stores information like the calling card or 10-10- access number to use when calling that number. screenshot

As part of your automated dialing, you can even have PhoneValet dial the extension, Pin Numbers, account numbers and more that are often required before a human gets on the line with a large organization.

Each contact in the phonebook also has a field to hold notes concerning the contact. A pencil symbol lets you know whether a contact has a note entered (see below).

Customize Announcements and Voice Dialing
When Caller ID information is not accurate (wrong or missing name, for example), PhoneValet allows you to add a phonebook entry for that number. When a call from that number is detected, PhoneValet will announce the name from your phonebook instead of the name provided by Caller ID.

PhoneValet uses speech synthesis to provide spoken caller announcements. When a name is pronounced in an unusual way, you can provide PhoneValet with a phonetic spelling of the name in addition to the standard printed version. If you do, you will see the name displayed correctly in on-screen announcements, and it will also be announced aloud correctly. If you use voice dialing, providing PhoneValet with the phonetic spelling also helps recognition of the name when you speak it. screenshot

Adding to Your PhoneValet Phonebook
Adding new contacts to your phonebook is a snap when you use the Call Log. A simple click turns a record of a call into a new contact, with all the fields filled in. All you need to do is edit the name of the contact if you so desire, add any textual notes then save.

PhoneValet provides its own phonebook because, unlike many contact managers (including Apple's Address Book), PhoneValet is a multi-user product. It can log calls, take voice mail messages, send emails and more — even when no users are logged into your Macintosh, or when your children are playing games in their own accounts. PhoneValet's centralized data store means call logs and phone numbers from all users' PhoneBooks are concurrently available — no matter who is logged in — and call announcements are professional and consistent.

It's easy to import records into your PhoneValet phonebook from Apple's Address Book, Entourage, Palm Desktop, Now Contact and others. PhoneValet makes it easy to select individual records to import from these sources and provides tools to help you keep your phonebook in sync.
